Season 3 of True Detective features Mahershala Ali as Wayne Hays, a state police detective from Northwest Arkansas and Stephen Dorff as his partner Roland West. Nic Pizzolato, who wrote all eight episodes of Season 1, scripted all eight episodes of Season 3, with David Milch and Graham Gordy assisting him in scripting two, and several episodes were directed by Jeremy Saulnier (Green Room). Season 3 premiered on HBO on January 13, 2019.
