Posse (1993)

Posse is the 1993 Western directed by and starring Mario Van Peebles as Jesse Lee, who along with fellow "Buffalo soldiers" form a posse in order to defend a town whose citizens are freed slaves. Not to be confused with the 1975 Kirk Douglas film with the same name.
