9th Company: Roots of Terror is a 2008 action-oriented real-time strategy game based on the 2005 Russian film The 9th Company. The game, just like the film, loosely follows actual events that took place on Hill 3234 during Operation Magistral, in the Soviet-Afghan war. The game displays footage from the film and features playable characters from the film as well.
Handguns
Makarov PM
The Makarov PM pistol is used by military and secret services. Still used today in the Warsaw Treaty countries. In game is used by Mujahideen and Soviet soldiers.
Stechkin APS
APB silenced pistol is used by Soviet troops and Soviet special forces in game mission 5.
Assault Rifles
AK-47
A Type II AK-47 is displayed on the French edition, on the CD artwork.
AKS-74
The AKS-74 rifle (alongside optional BG-15 grenade launchers) is used by the Soviet Afghan National Army and by the Mujahideen. It is depicted in a "jungle-style" taped-together magazine configuration, thus the ammo supply it carries adds up to a total of 60-rounds. The AKS-74 also features heavily on different covers for the game.
AKS-74U
The AKS-74U was used by Soviet infantry and tank crews.
M16A2
The M16A2 is an American assault rifle. Despite the fact that the USA never gave M16A2 rifles to the Mujahideen, it is seen in game used by Mujahideen forces.

Used by the Mujahideen and by Soviet soldiers.
NSV 12.7mm 'Utes'
The NSVU 'Utes' 12.7mm heavy machine gun is used by both Mujahideen forces and Soviet troops.
DShK 12.7mm
This very dangerous gun is used by Mujahideen forces and is also seen on enemy technicals.
ZU-23-2
Used by Soviet soldiers and Mujahideen, and it is used on the KamAZ gun truck. It is incredibly lethal to enemy troops.
Sniper Rifles
Dragunov SVD
Used by Mujahideen and Soviet soldiers.
Lee-Enfield No.4 Mk
Used by the Mujahideen.
Rocket Launchers
RPG-7
Used by the Mujahideen and Soviet soldiers. This weapon is good for attacking convoys.
RPG-18
RPG-18 used by the Soviets and Mujahideen. It only has 1 rocket and cannot be reloaded.
Hand Grenades
RGD-5
Both Mujahideen and Soviet forces use the RGD-5 hand grenade
F-1 Grenade
Used by Mujahideen force and Soviet soldiers.
