9th Company: Roots of Terror is an action-oriented real-time strategy game based on the 2005 Russian film The 9th Company, which was itself very loosely based on real events that took place on Hill 3234 during Operation Magistral, in the Soviet-Afghan war. The game displays scenes from the film and features playable characters from the film as well.

The Makarov PM pistol is used by military and secret services. Still used today in the Warsaw Treaty countries. In game is used by Mujahideen and Soviet soldiers.

AKS-74

The AKS-74 rifle with (but more commonly without) BG-15 Grenade launcher was used by Soviet Afghan National Army and Mujahideen. It is depicted using "jungle-style" taped-together magazine stacks, thus the ammo supply it carries adds up to a total of 60-rounds, which is incompatible with the AKS-74U.
