The Eiger Sanction is a 1975 thriller directed by Clint Eastwood, who stars in the film as Dr. John Hemlock, a former assassin who is persuaded to accept a final "sanction" while leading a group of climbers up the Eiger mountain in the Swiss Alps. Adapted from the novel of the same name by Trevanian, the film is notable for its spectacular climbing sequences as well as being one of the earliest directorial efforts for the actor.
