The 100 is a science fiction television series set 97 years following a devastating nuclear war that has decimated all life on earth, or that is what is assumed by the denizens of a massive orbiting space station, created by merging several space stations held by multiple nations into one city in space. Now that they are running out of resources, the occupants decide to try their hand at returning to a post apocalyptic earth, rife with unknown dangers and inhabitants. The 100 refers to the first 100 people who were sent back to earth to test the viability of life 'on the ground', made up of mostly teen and young adults serving prison terms for various crimes. The series is loosely based on the 2013 novel of the same name written by Kass Morgan and premiered in 2014 in the US on the CW Network.
