Currently three of four ''Rebuild'' films have been released. While the title of the third instalment combined with its rather bizarre departure from the original series led to many fans concluding that director Hideaki Anno was trolling his fans again and had no intention of ever making a fourth part, particularly when a fall 2015 release date came and went without any comment, teaser material began to appear in mid-2017 and it is believed the final part will be released sometime in 2018.
