Eternal Call (Vechnyy zov) is a Soviet 1976-1983 TV series directed by Vladimir Krasnopolskiy and Valeriy Uskov and based on the eponymous novel by Anatoly Ivanov. The epic family saga depicts the life and fate of Savelievs family from a Siberian village through the events of half a century, from 1906 to 1961. First six episodes were released in 1976, and six more in 1979; these 12 episodes form Season 1 that is set in 1906-1941. Season 2 was released in 1983. It consists of seven episodes (13-19), set in 1942-1961.
The DVD release of the series is truncated in comparison with the original TV release. This page is based on full TV version.
The following weapons were used in the film Eternal Call (Vechnyy zov):
In Eps. 4 and 5 Yakov Aleinikov (Vladlen Biryukov) carries a Mauser C96 pistol in several scenes. His pistol several times switches from a classic C96 to C96 M1930 (see below) and back. Judging by the grips, there are two different Mauser pistols. In one scene in Ep.5 Ivan Saveliev's (Nikolay Ivanov) C96 M1930 also swithes to a classic C96.
Mauser C96 M1930 pistols also appear in the series. There are two different props of this anachronistic version of C96, one of early variation, with milled rails on each side of the barrel extension, and another one of late variation, with smooth rails (like the sample gun). The late version of C96 M1930 is used by Yakov Aleinikov (Vladlen Biryukov) during the attack of Kaftanov's gang in Ep.4, and by Ivan Saveliev (Nikolay Ivanov) and Demyan Inyutin (Nikolay Mikheev) in the scene in taiga hamlet in Ep.5. The early version is also seen in Ep.5, used by Yakov Aleinikov and Ivan Saveliev (instead of previously seen late model).
Mosin Nagant M1891/30 rifles, standing for original M91s, are widely used by White Army soldiers in Eps. 4 and 5. Some Red partisans and brigands also are seen with M91/30 rifles.
Several of Kaftanov's brigands carry Mosin Nagant "obrez" sawed-off rifles in Eps.4 and 5. In the scene in taiga hamlet in Ep.5 Fyodor Saveliev (Vadim Spiridonov) uses an "obrez".
