How can you tell Mk.46 from M249 from Mk.48? The only visible difference I'm aware of is that Mk.46 lacks the mag feed option and Mk.48 would have larger rounds in the belt, but how can you tell otherwise?--[[User:Mandolin|Mandolin]] ([[User talk:Mandolin|talk]]) 19:58, 2 October 2017 (EDT) | How can you tell Mk.46 from M249 from Mk.48? Well only the M249 (and Minimi) accepts the STANAG box mag as well as belts. While largely obscured by the belt when installed, there is that.
The Mk46 is always provided with a RIS, an never has the carry handle. But the M249 can now also have rails so that's not definitive.
Mk48 is of course in a different caliber, so if the belt is visible, that should be fairly obvious.
