The '''General Liu Rifle''' is an experimental early Chinese self-loading rifle, named after its designer General Ch'ing-en Liu (Chinese: 劉慶恩, Pinyin: Liu Qing En), the first Superintendent of Hanyang Arsenal. General Liu went to USA in 1914 to procure machinery for the Hanyang Arsenal from the Pratt & Whitney Tool Company. The rifle was first tested in Beijing in 1916, one made by Pratt & Whitney, the other made in Hanyang. The US Army Ordnance Office also tested the rifle in 1918.
