'''Einstossflammenwerfer 46''' (literally "single shot flamethrower", other names ''Volksflammerwerfer 46'' ("people's flamethrower") and ''Abwehrflammenwerfer 46'' ("defence flamethrower")) is a German single shot disposable flamethrower, put into service in 1944. It was intended for ''Fallschirmjäger'' (paratroopers) but saw most action in hands of ''Volkssturm''. About 30,700 pieces were manufactured. From its visual similarity to the tanks of the later Soviet [[LPO-50 flamethrower]], it was probably similar in function, using an explosive compression charge to fire rather than a propellant gas reservoir as on a conventional flamethrower, emptying the fuel tank in about half a second.
