Original Gangstas is a 1996 Blaxploitation action movie, directed by Larry Cohen and starring Fred Williamson, Pam Grier, Jim Brown, and Richard Roundtree. The story is set in Gary, Indiana, where the street gang, known as Rebels, terrorize the community. Pro football coach John Bookman and boxer Jake Trevor, both Gary natives, return to the town when Jake's son and John's father fall victims of Rebels. Years ago John and Jake were founders of Rebels gang, now they have to stop their successors.
The following weapons were used in the film Original Gangstas:
A stainless steel snub nose revolver with full underlug is seen in hands of a gang member. Smith & Wesson Model 60 with 2" barrel is a possible guess.
Smith & Wesson Model 66
During the conflict with John Bookman one of the gang members has the Smith & Wesson Model 66 revolver. Similar looking revolver is briefly seen in hands of Kayo (Dru Down).
N-frame Smith & Wesson
In one scene the bodyguard of crime boss Big Brother holds a large revolver, probably N-frame Smith & Wesson, thought it's hard to say if it is .357 or .44 caliber.
Unidentified revolver
A revolver is briefly seen in hands of Diablos gang member.
What appears to be the Smith & Wesson 39 is seen in hands of a gang member during the first encounter of John Bookman with the gang.
Smith & Wesson 59
Spyro (Christopher B. Duncan), second-in-command in Rebels gang, carries a pistol that appears to be Smith & Wesson 59. During the climactic night shootout Laurie Thompson (Pam Grier), being disarmed of her Micro Uzi, picks up a S&W 59 from a dead gang member. Unlike the first pistol, this one has pearl grips. During the attack on Marvin Bookman's (Oscar Brown Jr.) grocery store Kayo (Dru Down) holds the nickel plated Smith & Wesson 59. Then he gives the pistol to Bobby (Kevin Watson), ordering him to kill Marvin.
Beretta 92FS/Taurus PT92
What appears to be a Beretta 92FS or a Taurus PT92 is seen in hands of a gang member during the night shootout.
Unidentified pistols
In one scene a female gang member holds a pistol.
Blood (Tim Rhoze), the leader of The Diablos gang, holds a pistol in one scene.
Submachine Guns
Uzi
The Uzi, fitted with foregrip, is seen among the guns, purchased by John Bookman (Fred Williamson). It isn't used in action.
Micro Uzi
Several Micro Uzi SMGs are among the guns, purchased by John Bookman (Fred Williamson). During the drive-by attack on Diablos both John and Jake Trevor (Jim Brown) use Micro Uzi SMGs. Micro Uzi is Laurie Thompson's (Pam Grier) gun during the night shootout. Gang members also use Micro Uzi.
In two scenes John Bookman (Fred Williamson) uses the Winchester Model 1887 shotgun, fitted with M203 grenade launcher. The first version, used during the attack on Diablos gang, looks very similar to the gun, seen in The Long Kiss Goodnight (filmed the same year). It has sawed-off stock and shortened barrel, and the front foregrip is removed to allow for the attachment of the UGBL. The second version, used during the climactic shootout, has full stock, but all other features of the gun are same.
A Mossberg 500 Bullpup is seen among the firearms, purchased by John Bookman. It isn't used in action.
Unidentified shotgun 1
In one scene a shotgun is briefly seen in hands of a gang member. It appears to be stainless or nickel plated and has pistol grip.
Unidentified shotgun 2
A gang member fires unidentified pump action shotgun during the night shootout.
Rifles and Assault Rifles
Ruger Mini-14
During the night shootout Slick (Richard Roundtree) is armed with Ruger Mini-14 with folding stock. Mini-14GB with folding stock is seen in hands of a gang member.
Armalite AR-18
Several AR-18s are among the guns, purchased by John Bookman (Fred Williamson). Marcus (Godfrey) uses the AR-18 in the night shootout. In the final scene Blood (Tim Rhoze), the leader of The Diablos gang, uses AR-18 with sniper scope. Some Rebels and Diablos are briefly seen with AR-18s.
Some CAR-15-style carbines are also seen in several scenes.
M16 (unclear model)
An M16 of unclear model is seen among the guns, purchased by John Bookman. It is fitted with M203 grenade launcher and some sighting device.
Valmet M82
In the opening scene Kayo (Dru Down) uses the Valmet M82 to commit a murder. Later the M82 is used by the leader of Rebels, Damien (Eddie Bo Smith Jr.).
