Verdun is a multiplayer FPS set in the First World War. The game takes place on the western front between 1914 and 1918, in one of the bloodiest conflicts in world history. The developers were inspired by the infamous Battle of Verdun France in 1916. The game includes many historically accurate features such as realistic WW1 weaponry, authentic uniforms and maps based on the real battlefields of Belgium and France. Tannenberg is sequel of Verdun it's taking the player to the eastern front of World War One.
The game features the following squad types:
- Entente
- Poilus: Led by a Caporal, the French Poilus are provide accurate rifle fire. Its officer has the ability to designate an area for artillery/mortar strikes.
- Chasseurs: French light infantry unit who are fast moving. The Chasseurs' task is reconnaissance. Its officer calls in recon planes to detect the enemy troops by displaying their locations on the mini-map for a short period of time.
- Tommies: The main British attack force, led into battle by a Corporal. The Tommies are the Entente Powers all-round squad type, supported by artillery fire.
- Canadians: Considered by the German army to be the most dangerous enemy force on the western front, the Canadian assault unit is lightly equipped with grenades and rifles. They can call in gas artillery to cover their advance.
- Central Powers
- Landsers: The German Rifle Squads’ main strength is in advance under MG 08/15 support. Its officer has the ability to designate an area for artillery/mortar strikes.
- Alpenjägers: German mountain infantry who are lightweight and focused on observation. Its officer calls in recon planes to detect the enemy troops by displaying their locations on the mini-map for a short period of time.
- Stoßtruppen: Formed in response to trench warfare, elite lightweight units fought using infiltration tactics, grenades and experimental weapons. They can count on increasingly powerful chemical agents to harass the enemy and cover their infiltration
