The Frozen Ground is a 2013 crime mystery drama film directed by Scott Walker. This movie is inspired by the true story of Jack Halcombe (Nicolas Cage), an Alaskan cop who tries to stop Robert Hansen (John Cusack), a serial killer who for thirteen years has successfully eluded justice. When information is obtained via Cindy Paulson (Vanessa Hudgens), a seventeen year old girl and would-be victim of Hansen's who managed to escape, the detective is finally put on the right track. With this knowledge, Detective Halcombe risks his career to embark personally to stop Hansen and prevent further killings.
