The Big Sleep was filmed in 1946 with Humphrey Bogart playing private detective Phillip Marlowe who takes on a blackmail case. During his investigation he uncovers a trail of murderers, pornographers, nightclub rouges and the spoiled rich. This Raymond Chandler story about legendary detective Philip Marlowe is directed by Howard Hawks.
