Beasts of No Nation is a 2015 Netflix original film that is an adaptation of the 2005 novel of the same name by Uzodinma Iweala. The film follows Agu (Abraham Attah), a young boy growing up in an unnamed West African nation during a civil war. When his family is killed by government forces, Agu finds himself drafted as a child soldier in the rebel army run by the Commandant (Idris Elba). The film was the first original feature released by Netflix and was directed by Cary Joji Fukunaga, who had helmed every episode of the first season of the series True Detective.
