Squad is a tactical first-person shooter video game. It is set to be self-published through Steam and is a spiritual successor to the multi-award winning Project Reality modification for Battlefield 2. The goal of Squad is to create a "tactical first person shooter built around teamwork and cooperation". The development was announced in October 2014 and it is currently in a pre-alpha state.
The following weapons appear in the video game Squad:
The Beretta M9A1 is the standard sidearm for the US Army.
MP-443 Grach
The MP-443 Grach is the standard sidearm for the Russian Ground Forces.
Makarov PM
The Makarov PM is the standard sidearm for the Insurgents and Militia.
Walther P99
Some U.S. Army soldiers are seen with a Walther P99 holstered. Oddly, the frame uses the Walther P99 but it appears with a slide, hammer, safety decocker, muzzle, and a rear sight similar to the Beretta 92FS. The weapon is not usable.
Assault rifles
AK-74 / AK-74M
The AK-74M is the standard primary weapon for the Russian Ground Forces. It comes in multiple configurations with attachments such as the 1P78 2.8x scope or the GP-25 grenade launcher.
The standard AK-74 is usable by the Insurgent and Militia forces, and can be fitted a GP-25 for use by the Grenadier class. It was first weapon to be showcased in the Pre-alpha Gameplay, along with the M4.
The AK-74N is also usable by the Insurgents and Militiamen and can be identified thanks to the 1P78 scope that's always attached to it : the basic 74 isn't able to mount optics due to the lack of side rail.
M4/M4A1 Carbine
The M4A1 carbine is the standard primary weapon for the US Army. The rifle is fitted with a railed handguard and comes in many configurations with different sighting systems (standard carry-handle iron sights, Aimpoint CompM4 red dot sight or ACOG optic sight) and rail attachments (vertical foregrip or M203 grenade launcher).
The standard M4 carbine with a correct three-round burst selector is usable by Militia riflemen. It comes in a single configuration, with plastic handguards and iron sights.
Machine Guns
M249
The M249 is revealed in the January 2015 update. It is seen being fitted with an ACOG scope (looks to be a ACOG TA31H with TA91 Anti-Reflection Device), a 200-round ammo drum, and a RIS Handguard.
RPK / RPK-74M
The RPK-74M is the standard light machine gun for the Russian Ground Forces. It is issued with 45-round magazines and comes on two variants, one with iron sights and the other with a 1P78 scope.
The RPK is the standard light machine gun for the Insurgents and Militia. It comes with 75-round drum magazines.
Sniper Rifles
M110 SASS
The SVD Dragunov is the standard sniper rifle for the US Army. Strangely, is fitted with a 4X ACOG sight instead of the usual Leupold Mark 4, which will be changed in the future according to the weapon's page on the official wiki.
SVD/SVD-M Dragunov
The SVD Dragunov is the standard sniper rifle for the Insurgents, and Militia. They are all fitted with a PSO-1 scope.
The SVD-M variant is used by the Russian Ground Forces. It sports the same scope, but has black plastic furniture instead of the wood.
Grenade Launchers
GP-25 Grenade Launcher
The GP-25 grenade launcher is added in the April 2015 update. The GP-25 appears to be mounted on the AK-74.
M203 Grenade Launcher
The M203 grenade launcher is added in the April 2015 update. The M203 is seen as underbarrel grenade launcher for the M4/M4A1 Carbine.
Launchers
RPG-7
The RPG-7 was added in the February 2015 update and later in April 2015 update. Currently in Pre-Alpha, the RPG-7 uses the OG-7V HE-Frag warhead rocket. PG-7VM HEAT and TBG-7 warhead rockets are seen in game but still unusable. It should be noted that Squad is one of the few games thus far that has included the lethal back-blast of the RPG and other similar launchers.
The DShKM is usable by Insurgent and Militia forces, either mounted on tripods or SUVs.
Hand Grenades
F-1 Hand Grenade
The F-1 hand grenade is revealed in the April 2015 update as the Insurgent's standard hand grenade.
M18 Smoke Grenade
The M18 smoke grenade will be featured as the non-lethal smoke grenade for the U.S. Army and currently as a placeholder smoke grenade for the Insurgents as the RDG-2 Smoke Grenade is still in development.
M67 Hand Grenade
The M67 hand grenade is revealed as the standard HE-Frag (High-Explosive Fragmentation) grenade for the U.S. Army. It is revealed in the February 2015 update.
