Tom Hanks is an American actor/director/producer who was previously known for his comedic roles in such films as Dragnet (1987) and Turner & Hooch before his Academy Award-winning dramatic turns in the films Philadelphia and Forrest Gump. In addition to his extensive acting career which includes such films as Saving Private Ryan, The Green Mile and The Da Vinci Code, Hanks also has directed several films and produced the Emmy Award-winning HBO miniseries Band of Brothers and The Pacific. He also is the father of actor Colin Hanks.
