Might be a SIG P250 Compact? --Lemonificent (talk)

Until this character have a screen time, I agree he's wielding a SIG series handgun. But I don't think he's wielding a compact version, because it's possible that tall & average build man (in this case, avatar) could made some pistol look like compact pistol with his long fingers. Johnny Akiba (talk) 00:56, 7 July 2014 (EDT)
Tried to take a closer look. Ginro does appear to have a SIG-based pistol, but not that I can tell. Ominae (talk) 03:22, 14 July 2014 (EDT)

Beat me to it

Thank god I logged in today, otherwise, I would have wasted my time since someone already started this Excalibur01 (talk) 23:05, 6 July 2014 (EDT)

FN Minimi is a M249-E1?

I know in the anime they called it a Minimi, but isn't it actually a M249-E1? My justification is in the stock. If you compared the stocks of M249-E1 and FN Minimi, it looks more like the M249-E1 with more part of the stocks filled in than the Minimi. Also the back sights too. M249-E1

I get the feeling that this is one of those gun shows that will have low quality guns for background characters and more detailed guns for guys in the foreground Excalibur01 (talk) 00:00, 13 July 2014 (EDT)

I don't know, I'm just positive that the depicted weapon isn't a FN Minimi from what I've seen on the details. I just need confirmation that I am right so I can change it. Inceptor57 (talk) 01:40, 13 July 2014 (EDT)
Well, the back sights are, if nothing else, more akin to those of the M249, rather then the original Minimi. --BeloglaviSup (talk) 07:52, 13 July 2014 (EDT)
Exactly, and there is the similarity in the stocks as well like I stated. Inceptor57 (talk) 10:42, 13 July 2014 (EDT)

https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/ja/9/9e/JGSDF_Minimi_20120422-01.JPG Here's a picture of the Minimi that the JGSDF uses. This is definitely not a M249. The rear sight is pretty standard for all Minimi variants nowadays.--Wildcards (talk) 05:10, 20 July 2014 (EDT)

Sinon situation

Maybe this will become moot point at best because pretty sure almost every IMFDB member have their own carry weapon, but I want to ask for your opinion about this. What would you do if your relative experienced the situation like Sinon has? Johnny Akiba (talk)

It's also a moot point because of differing attitudes to firearms in Japan compared to America. Said attitudes form a big part of her character. The Wierd It (talk) 05:58, 25 July 2014 (EDT)
Well there are multiple points to this. First is the shock and trauma of Sinon. She's got to be like 10 or even younger from how she's drawn. I can't tell since Anime can be deceptive of age. She seems to have PTSD very bad and she's sorta going into one direction when it comes to guns. Psychologically in a game, she's fine with it, maybe her mind sees it as an illusion and doesn't cause her to have flashbacks despite how real the VR sims are like but when she holds a toy gun that doesn't even look like a gun, just grip and shape, she freaks out and throws up. She really needs serious help. On the subject of the incident, the first shot was an accident, but the next few shots were deliberate. Even as a kid, she clear sees danger (the robber, not the gun), and picks up the gun as a means of defense, first to deny the weapon by disarming the robber and then turning the weapon against him. This shows clear initiative and courage on her part. Of course she couldn't fathom the serious consequences of taking a life until she already did, which a lot of people even people who carries guns every day face. I've never shot anyone before, but even with a lot firearms training and, I have no experience of what it's like to take a life and have blood on my hands even when its justified. To a lot of people, it's a day we hope will never come. But a lot will also be thankful that we had the gun, had the training and was prepared, with the right means and mindset to defend ourselves and others from harm. Excalibur01 (talk) 15:36, 25 July 2014 (EDT)
Excalibur01's pretty close to right on the money with her age - she was 11 at the time of her traumatic shooting. (She's sixteen as of SAOII, and refers to the incident as having been five years prior.) Poor kid is a mess; it's one thing for an adult to cope with taking a life; even trained military and police can experience psychological trauma from being forced to kill another person. For a kid to do it? No wonder she falls apart when she sees a gun. Atypicaloracle (talk) 06:07, 15 October 2015 (EDT)

Gun Store

At some point I'm going to cap and try to ID the stuff from the gun store, but I think I'm gonna need help with it. The Wierd It (talk) 18:06, 26 July 2014 (EDT)

I got the caps for it already and can start uploading tonight or tmrw morning. Should the gun store items be placed in a second category from the guns since there is a lot in it?Inceptor57 (talk) 20:53, 26 July 2014 (EDT)
We can put in the "Others" section. That can work. Unless all of them are in certain category. Ominae (talk) 21:26, 26 July 2014 (EDT)

Left handed?

I don't think the character is actually left handed. We've seen him hold swords right handed though it could be argued that he's ambi Excalibur01 (talk)

Maybe he wants to keep the right hand for his energy sword, that's why he's practicing with his left. Also, I don't know if it's just me, but I get really ticked off when Kirito showed little to no interest when Sinon was kindly explaining to him the dumb question he asked just a moment ago... I know he's not really into VRFPS, but that just annoys me for some reason...--Wildcards (talk) 04:36, 28 July 2014 (EDT)
It's annoying where the dialogue has him sorta interested but then dismisses the explanations that Sinon gives him, like when he asked about the small calibers of rifles compared to SMGs Excalibur01 (talk) 09:31, 29 July 2014 (EDT)
Kirito is effectively ambidextrous. In SAO, he unlocked an extremely rare skill that allows a user to equip two swords, because of his manual dexterity and fast reaction time. In the second game he plays, the two-sword skill doesn't exist; actual player reflexes and input is all that drives the swordplay, so he was able to teach himself to use two long blades at once. Also, it's not really all that remarkable that he has no head for guns and isn't really interested in learning - he's not into guns and would never have been playing GGO in the first place if Death Gun had not appeared. There's a reason he uses a lightsaber around and only uses a firearm when he absolutely has to. Atypicaloracle (talk) 06:01, 15 October 2015 (EDT)
He does seem to be right-hand dominant or at least preferential, given that when he has a single sword it's set for a right-handed draw. The Wierd It (talk) 08:45, 28 July 2014 (EDT)

AR-15 Variant

I think it could be based on one of the assault rifles LaRue makes or a similar company, anyway searching around because I swear I have seen it before. Kona (talk) 09:02, 13 August 2014 (EDT)

Unknown Assault Rifle

Pretty sure that's an full-sized rifle variant HK416A5. Geomax (talk) 14:37, 28 August 2014 (EDT)

Sinon's rifle

I just read that Skydance Television acquired the global rights to produce a live-action television adaptation of SAO. Well it's still years in the future, and I hope that the series will get popular enough for Phantom Bullet arc to get produced, but I was wondering: what is the possible bolt action .50BMG replacement of Hecate rifle for Sinon's character?

And one more thing: do the recoil of the .50 blank round is equivalent of .308 live round or not?
