The Hunters is a 1958 film based on the best-selling novel by veteran fighter pilot James Salter. Set during the height of the Korean War, the story centers on Major Cleve Saville (Robert Mitchum), flying the F-86 Sabre fighter jet. As he is flying combat missions against the Chinese he falls in love with his wingman's (Lee Philips) wife (May Britt). Saville also must cope with a hot dog rookie (Robert Wagner) in his fight element. A daring rescue mission of Lee Philips threatens all their lives in this war drama.
