The Assassination of Trotsky is a 1972 British-Italian-French biopic directed by Joseph Losey and depicting the last year of the life of Leon Trotsky and his assassination by Ramón Mercader (Frank Jackson in the movie) in August 1940.

Rast-Gasser 1898
A Rast-Gasser 1898 revolver is seen on Trotsky's table in the scene of the murder.
Various revolvers
M1911-style pistol
An M1911-style pistol is briefly seen in hands of Salazar (Enrico Maria Salerno) (this character is a substitution of real person of David Alfaro Siqueiros, a Mexican painter) when he, disguised as a Mexican police officer, leads his men to attack Trotsky's house. Frank Jackson (Alain Delon) also owns a 1911.
Submachine Guns
M1928A1 Thompson
Salazar and several of his men use M1928A1 Thompson SMGs during the attack on Trotsky's house. Trotsky's bodyguards, including Jim (Michael Forest) and Sam (Joshua Sinclair), also carry Thompsons.
Rifles
M43 Spanish Mauser
Most of Salazar's men, disguised as Mexican police, carry M43 Spanish Mauser, standing for correct M1936 Mexican Mausers.
Sporter rifle
In one scene a sporter or hunting rifle is seen in hands of Trotsky's bodyguard.
