Mk22 Mod 0 Hush Puppy with suppressor attached - 9x19mm

A modified version of the S&W 39 for use by Naval Special Warfare units during the Vietnam War, with a wider grip to accommodate a double stacked 14-round magazine, an extended and threaded barrel to allow the use of a Mk 3 sound suppressor, a slide lock to prevent the slide from cycling to further reduce noise, and higher profile sights for better sighting over a bulky suppressor. Navy SEAL Teams used both unmodified 39s and Mk 22 Mod 0 Hush Puppy's; the Hush Puppy was issued to officers-in-charge (OICs) of MST-2 detachments as their sidearm. The Smith & Wesson 59 was developed as a result of the project.
