Key Largo was filmed in 1948 with Humphrey Bogart playing ex-GI Captain Frank McCloud stopping by Key Largo to see the father of his war buddy killed in action during the Italian campaign. While there he comes across sadistic gangster Johnny Rocco played by Edward G. Robinson who holds everyone hostage at the hotel before his planned escape to Cuba. The only one that can stop him is Frank McCloud but the war has taken all the fight from him or has it.
