Black Sails is a 2014 historical adventure series surrounding the adventures of Captain Flint (portrayed by Toby Stephens), the pirate captain made famous in author Robert Louis Stevenson's book Treasure Island. The series, which is twenty years prior to the events of Treasure Island, premiered in 2014 on the Starz channel.
The following weapons were used in the series Black Sails:
Flintlock Pistol
Doune Lock Pistol
Captain Flint (Toby Stephens) uses a Doune lock Scottish Flintlock throughout the first season. This style of pistol is correct for the era, as they were manufactured by various sources from 1678 until around the 1790's. Although these were most popular during the Jacobite Rebellions and the American war of independence, it is entirely feasible that such a weapon could have been in Nassau in 1715. The earlier pistols, however, are known primarily for their intricate and ornate engravings.
IX Cavalry Pistol
In the opening scene of the first episode Captain Parrish (Graham Hopkins) wields what appears to be an anachronistic french cavalry pistol with a belt hook.
Light Dragoon pistol
Dufrene (Jannes Eiselen) Appears to use a Light Dragoon Pistol, judging by the shape of the cock, Frizzen spring, and barrel length.(S01E05)
Double Barreled Pistol
Charles Vane (Zach McGowan) is seen holding a distinctive Double Barreled Flintlock pistol in the third episode (S01E03)
Tower Sea Service Pistol
One of the brothel owner's henchmen uses what appears to be a Tower Sea Service Pistol. (S01E04)
Queene Anne pistol
Dufresne appears to have upgraded to a Queen Anne style Flintlock in the season finale.
Brown Bess Flintlock Musket
The Long Land Pattern Musket (Brown Bess) is used as a stand in for earlier muskets throughout the show. As the first version of the Brown bess was introduced in 1722, these are anachronistic, although a casual observer would be unlikely to notice.
Two men of the Scarborough equipped with what appear to be Brown Bess Muskets (S01E01)
Mr Beauclerk (Shaun Acker) uses Land Pattern Muskets in an endeavour to execute a tricky shot. (S01E05)
Another Possible Land Pattern musket is requisitioned by Mr. Scott (Hakeem Kae-Kazim).
A Walrus crewmember gives us a good close up view of the left of a land pattern.(S01E08)
Double Barrelled Flintlock Musket
A Walrus crewmember is seen with some sort of double barreled flintlock musket. (S01E08)
