The Ultimax 100 was developed by Chartered Industries of Singapore (CIS) in the late 1970s as a indigenous Light Machine Gun for the Singapore Armed Forces. CIS was eventually merged into Singapore Technologies Kinetics (STK). There are five models of the Ultimax 100:

  • Mark 1 was a pre-production variant with a quick detachable light barrel that proved unwieldy.
  • Mark 2 was the First Production gun with a fixed barrel and a carry handle located at the center of the gun.
  • Mark 3 updated version with quick detach heavy barrel, different carry handle. This version came in two types, the standard and Paratrooper length.
  • Mark 4 is the updated version of the MK 3 that was developed for the US Marine Corp trials of 2007. It has rails on the top of the receiver. Amongst other details it can take STANAG magazines and has a skeleton folding stock.
  • Mark 5 is an updated Mark 4 with side-folding stock, Picatinny rails and STANAG magazine well for box magazines and Beta-C drum mag.
