Glock 17

When Dan and Oatmeal go to the van to select a weapon to shoot at cans. Dan first checks out Glock 17 before deciding on an M1911A1. An AZ State Trooper draws his service Glock 17 on Dan after Dan & Virgil got into a fight with two members of the Duster gang.

Dan carries what appears to be Colt Python with rubber grips as his sidearm when a uniform deputy. Sheriff Kelly (Larry Ferguson) also carries one judging by the grips. Larry Ferguson was the director for the film, mainly known for his screenwriting work.

Colt still insisted on using the SP1 style lower receiver so any rifle that looks like this but has the ribbing around the magazine release button is not a Colt rifle.
