The following weapons appear in the video game America's Army 3:
M16A4 Rifle
One of the first weapons available to the player is the M16A4 rifle, taking the place of the older M16A2 rifle in the previous game. It can be fitted with various accessories including an M68 Aimpoint red dot scope, Surefire Universal weaponlight (not yet available, only seen in a trailer), and an M320 grenade launcher as mentioned below. A Designated Marksman variant is also available, referred to as the "M16A4 DMR" fitted with an M150 ACOG scope and capable of semi-auto fire only. A major change between this game and its predecessor is that the player is only shown how many magazines they have for the weapon they're using and has no active readout showing how many rounds are in the weapon at the moment, forcing the player to have to mentally keep track of their ammo usage lest they run empty at a bad time. The player can also set how many magazines they carry by switching their loadout on the multiplayer pre-match preparation screen, choosing between 'light', 'standard', and 'heavy'. Also, when the player reloads, the magazine is not discarded unless it is empty, being put in a pouch on the player's vest for later use. As with the previous game, this is one of the few games that will occasionally have weapons jam on a player, in which case they will have to execute a 'SPORTS' (Slap Pull Observe Release Tap Squeeze) drill to correct the malfunction. The player is introduced to this in Basic Rifle Marksmanship by having one of the magazines used during pre-qualification practice on the M16A4 loaded with a dummy round amongst the live ones.
M4A1 Carbine
Another weapon the player can use in the game is the M4A1 carbine, which can be customized similarly to the M16A4 rifle mentioned above (albeit without a Designated Marksman or Grenadier variant).
M249 SAW
As with the previous America's Army game, the M249 SAW appears as the primary weapon of the Automatic Rifleman in the game, fitted with accessory rails on the sides of the handguard and on the feed tray cover (which can mount an M68 Aimpoint red dot scope), using either 200-round ammo drums or 100-round woodland camo soft-bags (the latter of which lacks tracer rounds). Unlike the previous game, the player cannot deploy the M249's bipod to increase stability when firing from a prone position.
M67 Hand Grenade
One of several grenades available to the player is the M67 hand grenade, and the first of two lethal U.S. grenades available in the game. In the game, the player aims the throw of a grenade by centering the target between the thumb and index finger of the hand that pulls the pin from the grenade as a makeshift targeting reticle. The player must beware of the grenade bouncing off an obstacle in the path of the throw and landing too close to the player, possibly wounding or killing them and/or any of their nearby teammates. When an M67 grenade is thrown, the soldier throwing it will shout "Frag out!", alerting other members of their squad that a live grenade has been thrown and to beware of the impending explosion (ie, waiting before going through a doorway until after the blast or being ready to run clear if the grenade falls short).
M83 Smoke Grenade
One of two non-lethal U.S. grenades available in the game is the M83 smoke grenade.
AN/M14 Incendiary Grenade
Another grenade type available in the game is the AN/M14 incendiary grenade. It is used for the same purposes as in the previous game (temporary area denial, anti-materiel & makeshift lethal weapon), as well as to destroy enemy equipment. The grenade first appears in a MOUT (Military Operations in Urban Terrain) training mission, used to destroy a derelict portable generator.
M84 Stun Grenade
The second of two non-lethal U.S. grenades the player can use is the M84 stun grenade, also known as a "flash-bang". Anyone caught in the blast radius of this grenade will be rendered blind & deaf and unable to defend themselves for several moments.
M320 Grenade Launcher
The Heckler & Koch M320 grenade launcher appears in the game replacing the M203 grenade launcher and can be mounted on the M16A4 rifle. In-game the M320 is able to fire HEDP (High-Explosive Dual-Purpose) and smoke grenades. The HEDP grenades, just as in real-life, will only arm and detonate after flying a predetermined distance (25 meters in this case), though can still be used as a kinetic energy weapon against closer-ranged enemies.
Mk 19 Grenade Launcher
In the Weapons Familiarization training mission, a Mk 19 grenade launcher appears on the loading screen.
M230 Chain Gun
On some maps, the player will occasionally see AH-64 Apaches fly over, complete with M230 chain guns, though these aircraft are purely aesthetic and are of no help to the player.
"Obran NP"
Unlike the previous America's Army game, the OPFOR (Opposing Forces) in the game are equipped with a family of fictional weapons known as the "Obran" series, which are based on the Galil assault rifle. The "Obran NP" (Nastak Pusbrata; Assault Rifle) is the OPFOR counterpart to the M16A4 rifle and features matching semi auto/3-round burst fire modes and uses a Magpul CTR stock with cheek riser. It is also fitted with accessory rails on the handguard and on top of the receiver just like the M16A4, and also features a semiautomatic-only Designated Marksman variant called the "Obran MSP", fitted with the same M150 ACOG scope. The Obran weapons can also use the same accessories as the M16A4, such as the M68 Aimpoint. The Obran NP and Obran KNP originally use 30-round Magpul PMAG polymer magazines, but can be reloaded with M16-style metal STANAG magazines. The "take and hold" objectives in multiplayer mode include several crates containing Obran NP rifles in protective plastic wrapping (these rifles cannot be used, though the player can commandeer Obran weapons from slain enemies).
"Obran KNP"
The "Obran KNP" (Krotid Nastak Pusbrata; Short Assault Rifle) serves as the OPFOR counterpart to the M4A1 carbine and is almost identical to the Obran NP save for having a shorter barrel and replacing the 3-round burst with full auto fire.
"Obran LMK"
The "Obran LMK" (Lutimak Mitroja Kusbra: Light Machine Gun) serves as the OPFOR counterpart to the M249 SAW. It features a heavy barrel and a Beta-C drum magazine instead of the standard 30-round box magazine, and a Magpul PRS stock. Just like the SAW and the other rifles in the game, the LMK can also mount an M68 Aimpoint red dot scope. Despite being fed by a drum magazine, the LMK cannot be reloaded with the 30-round magazines carried by players using M16's, M4A1's, or even other "Obran" variants.
"GS-36 Grenade Launcher"
The "GS-36 grenade launcher", mounted on the "Obran NP", serves as the OPFOR answer to the M320 grenade launcher mounted on the M16A4, and appears to be virtually identical save for the name of the weapon.
"U-23A1 Hand Grenade"
The fictional U-23A1 hand grenade appears as the OPFOR counterpart to the M67 hand grenade, and appears to be modeled off the Mecar M72 hand grenade. Sometimes, the player will be able to hear an enemy say the phrase "Frag zool", which translates to "Frag out" and may be the only warning the player receives of an incoming U-23A1 grenade.
"U-72 Smoke Grenade"
The fictional U-72 smoke grenade appears as the OPFOR equivalent to the M83 smoke grenade and is similar in appearance, save for a bell-shaped body design. Like the M83 in the game, it only emits white smoke.
"U-113 Flashbang"
The fictional U-113 Flashbang serves as the counter to the M84 stun grenade and is similar in appearance save for the shape of the body, though has the same effects on those caught in its blast radius.
"U-108 Incendiary Grenade"
The fictional U-108 incendiary grenade serves as the OPFOR equivalent of the AN/M14 incendiary grenade, and looks nearly identical save for a difference in markings.
NSV Heavy Machine Gun
In the "Impact" and "Bridge" multiplayer maps, derelict T72 tanks can be seen, each fitted with an NSV heavy machine gun mounted at the Commander's hatch on the turret.
