Nice, but where's the trigger? This article or section is incomplete. You can help IMFDB by expanding it. |
Red Orchestra 2: Rising Storm is an expansion for Red Orchestra 2: Heroes of Stalingrad, and is set in the Pacific Theatre of Operations, with players being able to control U.S. Army or Marine infantrymen in the fight against the Imperial Japanese Army. Apart from new factions, weapons and settings, it includes new features such as banzai charges, booby traps and grenade launchers. All weapons have been confirmed through official media releases and all screenshots taken from the beta.
The following weapons appear in the video game Red Orchestra 2: Rising Storm (2013).
Allied Weapons
Sidearms
Colt M1911A1
The Colt M1911A1 is the sidearm for the U.S. faction. Each upgrade awards the weapon with 1 extra magazine and a new visual finish. At level 50, the weapon recieves pearl grips and a nickel finish.
Rifles
M1903A1 Springfield
The M1903A1 Springfield is available in-game for U.S. forces, as an alternative to the M1 Garand. It can be upgraded at Level 25 with an M1 10 inch Bayonet and at Level 50 an M1905 16 inch bayonet. The player can choose to perform either a full reload with the five-round stripper clip, or a partial reload with loose rounds. On the Guadalcanal map, to reflect historical accuracy, only the M1903A1 and not the M1 Garand is available to the Marine faction.
M1903A4 Springfield
The M1903A4 Springfield is used by the U.S. sniper class. It is fitted with a Model 330 Weaver scope by default, which was in fact used on the Springfield alongside the more well-known M84. It can be fitted with a M73B1 2.5x scope at Level 25. Reaching Level 50 changes the rifle to a Marine M1903A1 with an 8x Unertl scope. Unlike the Type 97 and Type 99 sniper rifles, neither variant of the Springfield has backup iron sights.
M1 Garand
The M1 Garand is the main battle rifle for the U.S. faction. It can be upgraded with an M7 bayonet at Level 25. The second upgrade at Level 50 gives the player the option to fake the famous ping noise, to fool enemy players in addition to an M1905 16 Inch Bayonet.
M1 Carbine
The M1 Carbine can be used by specialized U.S. troops (Officers, Squad Leaders and Engineers and can be unlocked for use by the Flamethrower role). It can be upgraded to fit a twin magazine pouch, and an anachronistic M4 bayonet. The weapon in-game behaves very similar to a pistol, with little to no kickback and high accuracy but you forgo the effective damage over range.
Submachine Guns
M1928 Thompson
The final upgrade for the M1928A1 Thompson turns it into an M1928 Thompson with a 50-round drum magazine and vertical foregrip.
M1928A1 Thompson
The M1928A1 Thompson is the submachine gun for U.S. troops in-game, with 20-round stick magazines. Early gameplay trailers showed it with simplified L-shaped sights, but as of the beta release it features the box-shaped sights. It can be upgraded to fire 30-round stick magazines and recieves a cutts compensator, and the final upgrade turns it into the M1928 Thompson with a 50-round drum magazine and vertical foregrip.

Browning M1919A6
The Browning M1919A6 can be used by the U.S. faction. The player can change the barrel if the weapon overheats. It holds a 150 round belt by default but doesn't feature any additional upgrades.
Browning M2HB
The Browning M2HB is dual mounted on the LVT-4 Amtrac, and on the turret of the LVT(A)-4 gun carriage. As these Amtrac's are part of the scenery, the machine guns cannot be mounted or used.
Flamethrowers
M2-2 Flamethrower
The M2-2 Flamethrower is usable by the U.S. faction in-game. Like real world flamethrowers, they quickly use up most of their fuel reserves with long bursts.
Grenades
Mk 2 Hand Grenade
The Mk 2 Hand Grenade is used by the U.S. faction. It can be cooked, and can be either thrown long or simply lobbed underhanded from behind cover.
AN/M8 Smoke Grenade
The AN/M8 Smoke Grenade is used by U.S. squad leaders and commanders. It is simply referred to as the M8.

Sidearms
Nambu Type 14

Rifles
Arisaka Type 38
The Arisaka Type 38 is the main weapon for the Imperial Japanese Army faction, fitted by default with the Type 30 bayonet. The player can choose to perform either a full reload with the five-round stripper clip, or a partial reload with loose rounds.
Arisaka Type 99
The Japanese faction can also use the Arisaka Type 99, fitted by default with the Type 30 bayonet. At level 50, the player is awarded with a somewhat redundant monopod which vastly increases accuracy and recoil control when fired from the prone position. In addition to the standard Type 99 Rifle, a Type 99 Sniper was available fitted by default with a side mounted scope. At level 25, the weapon receives a fixed x4 scope but at level 50, the weapon receives a 4x adjustable scope, monopod and a bayonet.

Type 92 Heavy Machine Gun

Grenades
Type 97 Hand Grenade
Japanese soldiers can be equipped with the Type 97 Hand Grenade, which can also be planted as a booby trap where it will detonate when a players steps on the grenade due to a percussion cap. The grenade itself has a rather long timer before it will explode. To reflect historical accuracy and for gameplay balance, Japanese soldiers who commit suicide with the Type 97 hand grenade will not lose any reinforcement tickets if they successfully gain a kill in the ensuring blast.
