A young romantic soldier Zhenya Kolyshkin (Oleg Dal) (Zhenya is short for Russian male name Eugeny) who serves in Katyusha multiple rocket launcher division falls in love to a girl-telegraphist Zhenechka Zemlyanikina (Galina Figlovskaya) (Zhenechka is short for Russian female name Eugenya).
