Maintenance

A couple of maintenance questions: 1. There's two Brian Van Holt pages, so if one of the admins can delete one, it would be appreciated. 2. The Michael Roof page cannot be edited. When you try to edit the page, this message pops up: 'You tried to edit a section that does not exist. Since there is no section , there is no place to save your edit.' Anyone know what to do about this? Ben41 11 Oct 2009

Other Media?

Well, basically I have a suggestion to allow to write "Other media" sections (similar to IMDb's) on actor's pages which will have everything we can't give a page to - short movies, music videos, book and magazine covers, etc. I know that there are huge restrictions on such things in general as separate pages, but it wouldn't be a massive overload, if there will be a little table on actor's page for that, in case it's needed - it wouldn't took much of website's space, probably it will take as much as biographical information do. One of the reasons why we basically do everything on this site is to give proper firearms information on movies and actors, so it's the way to give them a little bit more information on firearms without having Rules, Standards and Principles contradicted in any way, if they seek it (and they probably will do that on that site, because there's nothing adequately similar dedicated to this medium). What do you think? --Kloga (talk) 18:33, 9 December 2013 (EST)

Two things which I only remember enforced on me

There are two rules concerning actor pages which I only remember being enforced on me:

1) Fictional firearms do not count. Despite that you can easily find them on pages of Rutger Hauer and Jackie Earle Haley. I hope admins will not delete them becuase not including mock-ups, fictional firearms etc. is not fair to readers. For example if the reader only remembers that it was a Rutger Hauer movie and not it's name, how is this person supposed to know that he need a Split Second page? As well as how is this person supposed to remember that what Jesse Ventura was using in The Running Man is not a real firearm if the fictional costume weapon is not on the page? It's one of the things which makes this site not reader-friendly, I must say, and since I've started as a reader I'm feeling sad about this. Aren't this the information resource?..

2) I remember putting a screencap of Alain Delon with a gun to his face on his page when I created it and then it was deleted because he was not holding any firearm himself. Well, I have seen numerous such photos of other actors still on their pages, as well as ordinary photos and unrelated screencaps as in case of Jackie Earle Haley.

Sorry for being somewhat unfriendly and rude. I know that I'm not the best user of this site ever but it's making me sad when some things are only enforced on me because of my recent faults but not enforced on anyone else. As well as I feel embarrassed by some of the rules that make this place unfriendly for ordinary people to read and contribute. --Kloga (talk) 12:51, 28 December 2013 (EST)

I would argue the grapple gun doesn't belong, because it's neither real nor actually a weapon. According to IMFDB Info: Fictional Firearms, "If the weapon (for any reason) would lead the general public to believe that it is a real firearms or based on one," which should cover the shotgun from Split Second, while I don't think anyone would believe that Jesse Ventura's suit-based weapon is based on a real weapon. As for Alain Delon and Jackie Earle Haley, the IMFDB Style Guide indicates, "An image of the actor should be on every actor page. This image should show the actor's face clearly, with eyes open, and it is preferred that he or she be holding a gun, although not to his or her own head." There are MANY better shots of Alain Delon and Jackie Earle Haley available for their actor pages.
In English we have a saying, "The squeaky wheel gets the grease." You're under increased scrutiny because you've made questionable edits in the past. As for the rules, you're free to voice your objections, but you will follow them if you wish to remain. --Funkychinaman (talk) 13:16, 28 December 2013 (EST)
I wasn't saying that I will not follow. I'm trying as much as I can. I wonder why text on Fictional firearms is not included in General Rules, by the way... --Kloga (talk) 14:08, 28 December 2013 (EST)
I'm a bit surprised as well. I'm going to try to get the two merged. --Funkychinaman (talk) 14:28, 28 December 2013 (EST)

More subcategories?

How about ones for nationality? American Actor, British Actor, etc? S3anyBoy (talk) 16:44, 19 February 2015 (EST)

It'd be a huge undertaking, and I'm not sure what purpose it would serve. --Funkychinaman (talk) 16:56, 19 February 2015 (EST)
