The Ak 5 (automatkarbin 5 - literal translation "automatic carbine 5") is the Swedish version of the FNC. It was developed to replace the Ak 4. A DMR-version, fitted with a SUSAT 4X rifle scope and a raised comb, called the Ak 5B was introduced during the early 1990s.
The original Ak 5 was replaced by the upgraded Ak 5C in 2006, which featured a bolt hold open device, a top and bottom rail system with a red-point sight and a front grip.
