I think the S&W 28 is a S&W 29. The barrel doesn't appear to taper, and the rounds look too big to be .38/357. And what the heck happened to Gerard Depardieu? :I looked again and again, and I think that you are right. One more reason is the height of front sight in comparison with muzzle size, it matches .44 better than .357.
