F/X is a 1986 action thriller starring Bryan Brown as Roland "Rollie" Tyler, a movie special effects artist who is hired by the CIA to stage a phony hit. When the assassination appears to actually take place, Rollie finds himself using his expertise to evade the police and to prove his innocence. A sequel was released in 1991.

Lipton (Cliff De Young) carries a Colt MK IV Series 80 throughout the film.
Smith & Wesson Model 28
Roland "Rollie" Tyler (Bryan Brown) is seen firing a Smith & Wesson Model 28 loaded with special blanks when demonstrating how he will pull off the special effect hits.
Smith & Wesson Model 27-2
A Smith & Wesson Model 27-2 is the main sidearm of NYPD Lt. Leo McCarthy (Brian Dennehy).
Smith & Wesson Model 19 snub
Varrick (Tom Noonan) carries a Smith & Wesson Model 19 Snub.
Smith & Wesson Automatic (nickel)
McCarthy (Brian Dennehy) also is seen with what appears to be a nickel Smith & Wesson automatic. Though hard to tell, the weapon appears to have a large grip as well as the frame bulge, indicating a high-capacity S&W auto. The gun was previously listed as a Smith & Wesson 5904, which is not possible since the movie was released in 1986, while the 5904 and most other '3rd Generation' S&W autos were made in 1989 and later.
Colt Detective Special
A Colt Detective Special is the main sidearm of McCarthy's partner Mickey (Joe Grifasi).
M1 Carbine
The assassin who opens fire on Rollie's apartment uses a suppressed M1 Carbine.
MP40
Rollie is seen opening fire with an MP40 while shooting a movie.
Uzi
A full size Uzi is seen used by the men guarding Nicholas DeFranco (Jerry Orbach) and Col. Mason (Mason Adams). Rollie, DeFranco, and then Col. Mason are seen using it as well.
