Over There was a 2005 television series that was one of the first to portray on a weekly basis the early days of the US involvement in the Iraq War. The series was co-created by Steven Bochco, the producer behind such series as Hill Street Blues and NYPD Blue, and aired for 13 episodes in the US on the FX cable channel.
The following weapons were used in the television series Over There:
Rifles
M4A1 Carbine
One of the most commonly seen weapons in the show, the M4A1 carbine is used by practically all the American characters in the show seen in Iraq, with a few exceptions. All versions have the RIS foregrip, with the exception of Pvt. Frank 'Dim' Dumphy (Luke MacFarlane) who has an M203 grenade launcher and Surefire Universal weaponlight mounted on his as mentioned below. The character Pvt. Avery 'Angel' King (Keith Robinson) has an ACOG scope mounted atop the carry handle of his M4 due to his role as the fireteam's Designated Marksman. Most of the M4A1's are also fitted with AN/PEQ-2 IR designators. One can also be seen in the hands of a distraught Iraqi civilian whose son has been mortally wounded by an insurgent bomber, and another M4A1 can be seen being used by Colonel Ryan (Michael Cudlitz), a Special Forces officer who has a custom camouflage paint scheme, suppressor, and Surefire Universal weaponlight on his M4A1.
M16A2 Rifle
The standard-issue M16A2 with no frills is being used by PV2 Brenda 'Mrs. B' Mitchell (Nicki Aycox) and PFC Esmaralda 'Doublewide' Del Rio (Lizette Carrión), due to their roles as members of a logistics unit instead of a front-line combat unit like their comrades.
M16A4 Rifle
In the pilot episode, at least one soldier can be seen armed with an M16A4 rifle, identifiable by the removable carry handle/rear sight.
AK-47
As befitting the stereotypical 'bad guy' weapon, the AK-47 is seen in the hands of Iraqi insurgents that the characters end up facing in practically every episode, though are also seen in the hands of Iraqi soldiers working with the team on rare occasions.
AKMS
In some episodes, insurgents can be seen supplementing their AK-47's with AKMS rifles, identified by the underfolding stocks and muzzle brakes.
Lee-Enfield No.1 Mk.III*
The Lee-Enfield No.1 Mk.III* rifle is used by an insurgent in the series finale "Follow the Money" (S1E13).
Handguns
Beretta 92FS
One of the most rarely seen U.S. weapons in the series, the Beretta 92FS (standing in for the military-issue M9) was seen in "Suicide Rain" (S1E10), used by a distraught Cpl. Shaver (Currie Graham) after he fails to save the life of an Iraqi boy injured by an insurgent bomber.
Kimber Custom TLE II
In "The Prisoner" (S1E03), Colonel Ryan (Michael Cudlitz) can be seen holding a Kimber Custom TLE II fitted with a Surefire 310R weaponlight to the head of Hassan (Rami Malek).
Machine Guns
M249 SAW
The M249 SAW is carried by the fireteam's Automatic Rifleman, Pvt. Maurice 'Smoke' Williams (Kirk "Sticky Fingaz" Jones) and several other soldiers. Smoke originally carries the standard M249, but somehow switches to the compact 'paratrooper' version featuring a telescoping stock and shorter barrel in "Roadblock Duty" (S1E02). Other soldiers can also be seen using standard M249's on occasion, including a few mounted on vehicles.
M240B Machine Gun
The M240B machine gun can be seen mounted on Army vehicles.
Browning M2HB
The Browning M2 heavy machine gun also makes appearances in the series, usually mounted on U.S. vehicles such as Humvees. The most notable use of this weapon in the series was when 1LT Alexander 'Underpants' Hunter (Josh Stamberg) uses one to shoot an Iraqi boy trying to flag down a convoy in the final episode.
DShK Heavy Machine Gun
In "Pilot" (S1E01), an Iraqi insurgent can be seen firing a DShK heavy machine gun during the sandstorm firefight.
RPK Light Machine Gun
In "The Prisoner" (S1E03), one of the insurgents can be seen engaging U.S. forces from the roof of a building using an RPK light machine gun, but is inevitably taken out.
Other
Type 69 RPG
Like the AK-47, the Type 69 RPG rocket launcher is used by Iraqi insurgents in "Mission Accomplished" (S1E07) and in "Follow the Money" (S1E13), when a convoy the team is traveling with is ambushed.
M203A1 Grenade Launcher
The M203A1 grenade launcher is attached to PV2 Frank 'Dim' Dumphy's M4A1, who uses it in "Embedded" (S1E05). Another M203A1 can be seen fired by a soldier in "Pilot" (S1E01).
M242 Bushmaster Chaingun
In one episode, Smoke takes a nap inside an M2 Bradley, the vehicle armed with an M242 Bushmaster chaingun.
