The following guns were used in the film Windtalkers :
Error creating thumbnail: File missing Windtalkers (2002)
M1 Garand
M1 Garand rifles are the most commonly weapon in the hands of U.S. Marines. Most notably seen used by Private Pappas (Mark Ruffalo ) and Private Nellie (Martin Henderson ).

M1928 Thompson
Sgt. Joe Enders (Nicolas Cage ) uses an M1928 Thompson fitted with a 50 round drum during the opening scene in the swamps of Guadalcanal.

M1928A1 Thompson
For the remainder of the film, Sgt. Joe Enders (Nicolas Cage ) uses an M1928A1 Thompson fitted with a 30 round magazine (although the capacity is continually ignored, being a John Woo film). Sgt. Pete "Ox" Anderson (Christian Slater ) also uses an M1928A1. Since this is a Woo film, whenever Enders or Ox comes running in, all it takes is a good hip fired burst from their Thompsons and all the Japs are dead.
Error creating thumbnail: File missing M1928A1 Thompson - .45 ACP.

Error creating thumbnail: File missing Sgt. Ox with his Thompson. The shot is clearly reversed since Christian Slater is right handed and the ejection port is on the right side.
Error creating thumbnail: File missing Ox fires his Thompson at the Japs.
Error creating thumbnail: File missing Another shot of Ox firing his Thompson.
Error creating thumbnail: File missing Enders takes out three Japs with his Thompson, firing it with one hand!
M1911A1
Both Sgt. Joe Enders (Nicolas Cage ) and Sgt. Pete "Ox" Anderson (Christian Slater ) use M1911A1 pistols as their sidearms.
Error creating thumbnail: File missing Colt M1911A1 - .45 ACP.
Error creating thumbnail: File missing Enders primes a satchel charge while holding his M1911A1. If he had any plan to use it, he'd cock the hammer and put it in his right hand.
Error creating thumbnail: File missing Enders packs his M1911A1 in Yahzee's pack when he disguises himself as a Japanese soldier to steal a radio.
Error creating thumbnail: File missing Ox fires his M1911A1 after being stabbed by a bayonet. Slater flinches terribley in this scene.
Error creating thumbnail: File missing "I can't let them take us." Ox prepares to kill Whitehorse when the Japanese over whelm them.
Error creating thumbnail: File missing Instead of killing Whitehorse, he whips him around and fires his M1911A1 some more.
Error creating thumbnail: File missing Whitehorse picks up Ox's M1911A1 when a Gunto-wielding Jap decapitates him and fires it, eyes closed.
Error creating thumbnail: File missing A close up Ox's M1911A1 when Yahzee picks it up and threatens to kill Enders. Note the milling on the ejection port, one of the procedures done to convert a real gun to fire blanks.
Error creating thumbnail: File missing Enders reloads his M1911A1 during the final battle.
Error creating thumbnail: File missing Yahzee forces Enders to turn his M1911A1 on him.
M1 Carbine
Both Private Ben Yahzee (Adam Beach ) and Private Charlie Whitehorse (Roger Willie ) use M1 Carbines throughout the film. This is strange because usually M1 Carbines were issued to soldiers of higher rank, not first time translator privates. It would be more likely for them to be issued M1 Garands.
Error creating thumbnail: File missing M1 Carbine - .30 Carbine.

Error creating thumbnail: File missing Yahzee with his M1 Carbine.
Error creating thumbnail: File missing Whitehorse fires his M1 Carbine, eyes closed.
Error creating thumbnail: File missing Fortino (Billy Morts ) fires his M1 Carbine.
Error creating thumbnail: File missing Yahzee holds his M1 Carbine on a Japanese soldier during the Mexican standoff of the film, inevitable in a John Woo movie.
Error creating thumbnail: File missing Multiple Marines fire their M1 Carbines.
Error creating thumbnail: File missing Yahzee fires his M1 Carbine, eyes closed.

Browning Automatic Rifle M1918A2
Private Chick (Noah Emmerich ) uses a Browning Automatic Rifle M1918A2 as his role of the support gunner in the film, although his BAR is firing on the faster auto fire rate and has the bipod removed, suggesting it is used more in the assault rifle role.
Error creating thumbnail: File missing Browning Automatic Rifle M1918A2 - .30-06.

Error creating thumbnail: File missing Pvt. Chick fires his BAR.
Error creating thumbnail: File missing Pvt. Chick gives supporting fire with his BAR.
Error creating thumbnail: File missing Pvt. Chick bullies Yahzee for "looking like a Nip". During this scene, a continuity error is present as the bolt on his BAR is seen both locked back and closed in the scene.

Error creating thumbnail: File missing A nice side shot of the BAR.
M2-2 Flamethrower
Private Harrigan (Brian Van Holt ) uses an M2-2 Flamethrower as his weapon in the film. Using a flamethrower in any combat situation is a brave move as a single hit from an FMJ round to the tank containing a mixture of Napalm and Gasoline, and the tank will explode and engulf the user in flames. Harrigan is unlucky enough to experiance this himself, forcing Sgt. Joe Enders (Nicolas Cage ) puts him out of his misery with his .45.

Error creating thumbnail: File missing Pvt. Harrigan torches a Japanese bunker with his M2-2 Flamethrower.
Error creating thumbnail: File missing Pvt. Harrigan burns a Jap tank with his M2-2 Flamethrower.
Error creating thumbnail: File missing Another shot of Harrigan torching the tank.
Error creating thumbnail: File missing Here we see the flamethrower is a rubber prop, since even empty the tank weighs roughly 30lbs.
Error creating thumbnail: File missing Harrigan's tank ignites when struck by a round. It is rare that lead rounds would spark and ignite the fluid but since most issued rifles (including the Jap Arisaka) used Full Metal Jacket FMJ "Ball" ammo, the metal on metal contact sparks and the tank blows up.
Error creating thumbnail: File missing Harrigan, SOL.
Winchester 1897
Gunnery Sergeant Hjelmstad (Peter Stormare ) uses a Winchester 1897 "Trench" gun as his weapon in the film, although he is never seen firing it.
