Cobra is a 1986 action film starring Sylvester Stallone as Lt. Marion "Cobra" Cobretti, a Los Angeles police detective who is assigned to protect a witness from a cult gang of murderers on the streets of Los Angeles. The film was directed by George Pan Cosmatos, who was just coming off directing Stallone in the blockbuster sequel Rambo: First Blood Part II. While opening at number one at the box office, the film ultimately proved to be a critical and financial disappointment. Sylvester Stallone adapted the screenplay from the novel "Fair Game" by Paula Gosling. This novel would again be adapted into the 1995 film Fair Game starring William Baldwin and Cindy Crawford.
The following weapons were used in the film Cobra (1986):
Colt Gold Cup National Match
Lt. Marion 'Cobra' Cobretti (Sylvester Stallone) carries a special order Gold Cup built by Colt in 9mm for Stembridge Gun Rental as his sidearm throughout the film. Thanks goes to Phoenixent for the info.
ASP-9
Lt. Marion 'Cobra' Cobretti (Sylvester Stallone) is to said to also carry an ASP 9, most likely as a backup gun. In the current release of the film the ASP 9 is not ever seen being used. It may have been rented out for the film and the scenes were cut or script changes made the gun unnecessary to use.
Jatimatic SMG
The Jatimatic SMG from Finland, used by Stallone in the movie. The Jatimatic is a Finnish 9 mm submachine gun developed in the late 1970s and early 1980s by Jali Timari. The submachine gun made its debut in 1983. The Jatimatic was manufactured in very limited numbers (approx. 400) initially by Tampereen Asepaja Oy of Tampere and later - Oy Golden Gun Ltd (as the GG-95 PDW, re-introduced unsuccessfully in 1995). The firearm was designed primarily for police, security forces and armored vehicle crews. It was never adopted into service by the Finnish Defence Forces, although the later GG-95 PDW version was tested by the FDF in the 1990s; the conclusion of the tests was that the GG-95 was not suitable as a service weapon.
Colt Government
Sgt. Tony Gonzales (Reni Santoni), Cobretti's partner, carries an unmodified Colt Government 1911 at the end of movie. He is seen with what appears to be a Smith & Wesson Model 36 at the start of the film.
