What appears to be a Winchester Model 70 fitted in an adjustable target stock and special flash suppressor is seen in the hands of Richard Malone (Burt Reynolds) at the opening of the film.

The gun has Bo-Mar sights and a suppressor, which in reality wouldn't work on a revolver as it does nothing to dampen the gun's muzzle flash.
