Strike Back is a 2010 action series based on former SAS Chris Ryan's bestselling novel of the same name. Season 1 of the series, which starred Richard Armitage and Andrew Lincoln, aired for six episodes on Sky1 in the United Kingdom and was filmed mostly in South Africa. The current incarnation of the series, premiered in 2011 with Season 2, which stars Phillip Winchester and Sullivan Stapleton. Season 2 of the series is sometimes entitled Strike Back: Project Dawn in the UK or Strike Back - Cinemax Season 1 in the US. Season 3 of the series premiered in the UK and the US in 2012. Season 4 of the series premiered in the UK and the US in 2013 on August 9. Season 4 of the series is also known as Strike Back: Shadow Warfare.
