The Smith & Wesson 6900 series of pistols were descendants of the Smith & Wesson 469 Semiautomatic Pistol (9mm). The 6904 had an alloy frame with black finish, the 6906 was the same pistol in a stainless steel finish on the slide and satin silver alloy frame, and the 6946, which the 6906 in DAO (double action only), (i.e. no external safety switch).
