Longmire is a television series based on Craig Johnson's Walt Longmire series of novels. Robert Taylor stars as Wyoming sheriff Longmire and the cast includes Katee Sackhoff as his female deputy “Vic” Moretti and Lou Diamond Phillips as a bar owner in town. The series premiered in 2012 in the US on the A&E Network.

A modified Colt New Service is believed to have been the weapon used in a suicide in "A Damn Shame" (S01E03). It has a Single Action Army -ejector rod, and appears to be similar to the prop used in the original True Grit . Walt says it's chambered in ".45."
