Defiance is a science fiction television set on Earth some time after a war with a group of aliens known as the Votans. After a ceasefire is declared after many years of fighting, the majority of organised government on both sides has been destroyed leading to many new factions and militias being created who pursue their own interests. The story focuses on a town known as "Defience" which stands in the ruins of St. Louis, in which both human and Votan survivors live together.
The series is the first of its kind, in that it is being produced in concert with a massively multiplayer online game by Trion Worlds. Events that occur in one will effect the other, and characters will transfer back and forth between the game and television series.
The following weapons were used in the television series Defiance:
An unidentified futuristic pistol is used by the main character of the series, Joshua Nolan (Grant Bowler). The weapon appears to be based on an actual firearm, with cases being ejected when it is fired and the back portion of the weapon moving back and forth due to a slide moving underneath. It also appears to have two barrels, but the purpose of this is unknown. As the whole weapon is covered with a futuristic shell, it is not possible to identify what the real world weapon underneath is. Also of note is that in-universe, it's listed as an example of Po'Tech, "old Earth technology that’s been cobbled together or jury rigged," making it a homebrew weapon.

Note that there is what appears to be an ejection port on the left side of the pistol as well, although it is purely cosmetic.Error creating thumbnail: File missingA partial view of the slide of the underlying pistol through the ejection port from "The Serpent's Egg" (S01E05).
Beretta 92FS
Sukar (Noah Danby), leader of the Irathient Spirit Riders, uses a Beretta 92FS whilst robbing Nolan and Irisa in the pilot episode (S01E01).
An unidentifed (possibly custom) M1911 with vertical slide serrations, skeleton hammer, three hole trigger and an ambidextrous safety appears in several episodes.
Olfin Tennety (Jane McLean) carries a SIG-Sauer P230 with some kind of after-market silver finish in "The Serpent's Egg" (S01E05). Datak Tarr (Tony Curran) also uses a P230 in "Brothers in Arms" (S01E06).
A Webley Mk 1 Air Pistol (which is portrayed as a tranquilliser pistol) is used by the bounty hunter Eddie Braddock (Rob Stewart) in "Brothers in Arms" (S01E06).
The bounty hunter Eddie Braddock (Rob Stewart) carries a pair of unrailed SIG-Sauer P226s in "Brothers in Arms" (S01E06). Tommy (Dewshane Williams) can also be seen with a P226 as his sidearm.
The bounty hunter Eddie Braddock (Rob Stewart) carries a Glock 26 as his back up gun in "Brothers in Arms" (S01E06), which he relinquishes to Joshua Nolan (Grant Bowler) to comply with Defiance law.
An unidentified Walther P99 variant is procured by Eddie Braddock (Rob Stewart) after his own weapons are confiscated in "Brothers in Arms" (S01E06) and is used for the rest of the episode. The weapon appears to combine a pre-2004 model .40 S&W titanium coated slide with a post-2004 model frame (early model with short magazine release).
Error creating thumbnail: File missingWalther P99AS - .40 S&W. The pistol in the show differs in that it has a 1st generation style slide with half height narrow serrations and lacks the horizontal groove.Error creating thumbnail: File missingJoshua Nolan (Grant Bowler) checking the magazine of the P99.Error creating thumbnail: File missingBraddock aiming his pistol. Note the combination of a 1st generation slide (half height slide serrations) with a 2nd generation frame (non-proprietary accessory rail and non-hooked trigger guard. Also, note that the slide extends slightly past the front of the frame and it doesn't have the step down at the front, indicating a .40 S&W model.Error creating thumbnail: File missingNolan aiming the pistol at Braddock after he has disarmed him.
Shotguns
Winchester Model 1200
One of the Lawkeeper's deputies that rescues Nolan and Irisa outside the shield is armed with what appears to be a Winchester Model 1200 with a long barrel.
Several of the Irathient Spirit Riders in the pilot episode (S01E01) carry Heckler & Koch MP5A3. Several Defiance residents also carry MP5A3s during the Volge attack.
One of the Defiance residents can be seen with a Micro Uzi during the Volge attack in the pilot episode (S01E01). One of the Irathient Spirit Riders can also briefly be seen brandishing a Micro Uzi.
Joshua Nolan (Grant Bowler) uses a Heckler & Koch G36C during the Volge attack in the pilot (S01E01). It is fitted with a non standard carry handle which has integral folding iron sights. These are the source of many a continuity error in the episode with the position of the site switching back and forth between shots.
