The Promise is a 2011 British miniseries. Erin, a teenaged British girl, accompanies her best friend Eliza to Israel when she is called up for national service. Along the way she reads the diary of her grandfather Len Matthews (Christian Cooke), a paratrooper and World War Two veteran who is sent to post-war Palestine as part of the British mandate. Len and his mates are caught between the Jews and the Arabs, and Eliza explores life in the Palestinian territories, with her path ultimately leading to a promise her grandfather made to an Arab family decades ago.

Irgun assassins use a Colt M1911A1 to shoot several British soldiers. Sergeant Len Matthews (Christian Cooke) starts carrying an M1911A1 after he is disarmed of his service revolver.
Enfield No.2 Mk.1*
Hassan (Amir Najjar) fires an Enfield No.2 Mk.1* in a shootout with Irgun troops.
FN Model 1910
Irgun fighters fire FN Model 1910 pistols with wood grips during a shootout with British troops.
Webley Mk IV
Sergeant Len Matthews (Christian Cooke) carries a Webley Mk IV as his service revolver until he is disarmed of it by an Irgun assassin. It appears to be a pocket model with a 3" barrel.

Irgun fighters carry the M1928 Thompson with L-shaped sights and stick magazines.

Arab fighters are armed with the 12 Gauge Double Barreled Shotgun.

The main weapon of the IDF troops is the IMI Galil ARM with wooden handguards.

Several IDF troops are armed with the IMI Galil SAR.
Lee-Enfield No.1 Mk.III*
Several British paratroopers are armed with the older Lee-Enfield No.1 Mk.III*.
Lee-Enfield No.4 Mk.1
The main weapon of the British paratroopers is the Lee-Enfield No.4. Mk.1.
