Mikhail Ivanovich Kononov (April 25, 1940 – July 16, 2007) was a Soviet actor known mostly for tragic comedy roles. His most known roles were in movies Nachalnik Chukotki (Chief of Chukotka), V ogne broda net (No Crossing Under Fire), Na Voyne kak na Voyne (At War as at War), Gostya iz budushchego (Guest from the Future). In 1990s-2000s he rarely appeared in films and mostly refused the proposed roles. Mikhail Kononov died of pneumonia after myocardial infarction in 2007, aged 67.
