Revision as of 03:48, 31 December 2008
The following firearms were used in the film Three Kings
M16A2 Assault Rifle
The M16A2 can be seen throughout the movie in use by the various US forces and the four main characters.
M723
Major Archie Gates (George Clooney) is seen armed with an M723 in the film and in promotional pictures.
This isnt an M4, due to it being issued in 1994. Because Gates is Delta Force, I'm gonna say M723, but i'll double check.
- I put down the one we have, but just because the M4 wasn't issued until 1994 in real life doesn't mean it can't be in this movie (which came out in 1999). Beretta 92FS
The Beretta 92FS can be seen throughout the movie as well. Used by SFC Troy Barlow (Mark Wahlberg), SSGT Chief Elgin (Ice Cube), PFC Conrad Vig (Spike Jonze) and numerous other US personnel. Elgin accidentally fires his at one point when pistol-whipping an Iraqi soldier during the raid on the Karbala bunker, though thankfully no one is harmed by the stray shot.
M60 Machine Gun
The M60 machine gun is seen mounted on top of the Humvee, and is fired a few times during the confrontation between the main characters and the Iraqi soldiers at the Karbala bunker. The same Humvee-mounted M60 machine gun struck the van's windscreen after the Humvee detonated a land mine.
Thunder 5 pistol
This is the peculiar-looking "big revolver" carried by PFC Conrad Vig. The Thunder 5 is used to threathen a group of Iraqi soldiers at the Karbala bunker, perform target practice from a moving vehicle, and finally to shoot Iraqi soldiers during the rescue of SFC Barlow. An Interesting thing to note is that this weapon is not US Army Issue (Indeed, there is a deleted scene in which Vig recieves the weapon on Easter as a gift from his parents).
Light Anti-tank Weapon (LAW)
Conrad Vig pulls one out in the village when the Iraqi T-62 tank arrives. He later puts it away when Major Gates decides to leave.
Remington 870
A Remington 870 with a sawed-off barrel and stock can be seen in one of the flashback scenes where Conrad Vig is blasting away at objects arranged in a makeshift shooting range during his civilian life.
AKMSU Carbine
An AKMSU carbine can be seen in the hands of the Iraqi officer in the "moving of the gold" scene at the Karbala bunker. He is later shot in the leg with his own weapon during a struggle with Major Archie Gates (George Clooney), the incident leading to a shootout between the protagonists and the Iraqis despite Gates stating it was an accident.
Makarov PM pistol
The Makarov PM pistol can be seen being used by one of the Iraqi soldiers to kill one of the Shiite refugees imprisoned at the Karbala bunker, and then being used by one of the Iraqi's interrogating Barlow when he's rescued. The pistol is then taken by Barlow who appears ready to kill his former captor, but instead fires several shots into the wall near his head.
Short Magazine Lee-Enfield (SMLE)
The Short Magazine Lee-Enfield (SMLE) is seen being carried and fired by one of the Shiite refugees.
Mauser Gewehr 98/ Mauser Karabiner 98k rifle
Many of the Shiite refugees are seen armed with Mauser 98 bolt-action rifles - both the Gewehr 98 rifle and the Karabiner 98k rifle.
Mosin-Nagant
Many of the Shiite refugees and rebel Iraqi troops can be seen armed with Mosin-Nagant M91/30 rifles and M1944 carbines. Most notable in the scene where a child rebel uses a scoped version to shoot an Iraqi soldier shortly before the gas scene. He was then killed by the Iraqi T-62 tank in the village.
AKM
The AKM can be seen throughout the movie in use by Iraqi forces and also the four main characters and Shiite refugees. During the mission to rescue SFC Barlow, an Iraqi soldier who was not fooled by the protagonists' Saddam ruse uses an AKM to fatally wound Conrad Vig and seriously injure Barlow before being taken down by a Shiite refugee and Major Gates, the latter also using an AKM at the time.
SKS
Amir (Cliff Curtis), a number of Shiite refugees and rebel Iraqi soldiers are seen armed with the Siminov SKS carbine.
RPK light machine gun
During the mission to rescue Barlow from the Iraqi's, one of the Iraqi's can be seen with an RPK light machine gun, which he discards when fleeing from the ruse of Saddam's arrival.
Type 69 anti-tank rocket launcher
The Type 69 anti-tank rocket launcher can be seen used by Iraqi soldiers in two scenes; first to blow up a tanker truck full of milk at the Karbala bunker, then to destroy one of the cars in the convoy pretending to be "Saddam"'s entourage.
RPG-7
In a number of scenes, the Russian-made RPG-7 is used alongside the Chinese-made Type 69 rocket launcher.
