If one is inclined towards realism then the filmakers didn't do their research and failed to learn that the C96 was never chambered for a 44 caliber round. But if one wants to follow through with the movie Riggs was trying to outbrag about injuries so it could be argued he was infalting the truth. | |||

The following weapons were used in the film Lethal Weapon 2:
Beretta M92FS
The Beretta M92FS appears in the film as the primary weapon of Detective Martin Riggs (Mel Gibson), and as such is used frequently throughout the film. In a memorable scene, Riggs empties the magazine of his Beretta into one of the main villain's henchmen while saying the names of his friends and loved ones the villain and his henchmen had killed.
An officer in Murtaugh and Riggs' team uses the Compact version of the Beretta 92
Smith & Wesson Model 19
The Smith & Wesson Model 19 appears as the primary weapon of Detective Roger Murtaugh (Danny Glover). In a move reminiscent of the first Lethal Weapon film, Murtaugh can be seen rolling his neck before taking out the main villain with a single shot from his weapon.
Smith & Wesson Model 5906
Although it can be seen better in Lethal Weapon 3, Murtaugh also carries a Smith & Wesson 5906 in a shoulder holster in this movie
H&K MP5K
The H&K MP5K appears in the film as one of the weapons used by the main villain's henchmen, first seen in the South African embassy being carried under a coat via a shoulder sling, then again aboard the cargo vessel Alba Varden during the final battle.
H&K MP5A3
The H&K MP5A3 appears in the film as another weapon used by the main villain's henchmen, first during the raid on Riggs' beachfront mobile home (seen with and without brass catchers), then again during the final battle aboard the Alba Varden, two of which are comandeered by Riggs and Murtaugh and turned against their owners.
Mauser C96 Bolo?
During the final battle aboard the Alba Varden, the main villain, Arjen Rudd (Joss Ackland) fires on Riggs with a Mauser C96, seriously wounding him before running out of ammunition.
Has anyone ever noticed in Lethal Weapon 3 when Riggs is showing of his scars he refers to the bullet holes as "a family of .44s"? Was he just trying to make i seem like he got wounded worse than he did or was this just an error on the filmmakers?
If one is inclined towards realism then the filmakers didn't do their research and failed to learn that the C96 was never chambered for a 44 caliber round. But if one wants to follow through with the movie Riggs was trying to outbrag about injuries so it could be argued he was infalting the truth.
Walther PPK
One of Rudd's henchmen, an assassin named Pieter Vorstedt (Derrick O'Connor) can be seen using a Walther PPK in several scenes; first when he assassinates one of the officers in Riggs & Murtaughs' unit, then during the battle aboard the Alba Varden. The first time he uses it he fits a silencer on it, and the second time he uses it without the silencer, though is crushed by a cargo container Riggs drops on him before he can fire it.
Smith and Wesson Bodyguard
The female officer in Murtaugh and Riggs' group uses a stainless steel Smith & Wesson Model 38 Bodyguard revolver during the raid on Rudd's hilltop home.
Walther P5
A Walther P5 is used by one of Rudd's henchmen during the tow truck chase scene.
Sig Sauer P220 pistol series
A supressed Sig Sauer P220 or P226 is used by one of Rudd's henchmen, when he tries to murder Leo Getz (Joe Pesci) in the hotel room while posing as room service.
