Revision as of 05:46, 6 September 2012
- There is a misspelling on this page: One of the captions has "Vassili Vaitsev" instead of "Vassili Zaitsev". (Just search for 'Vaitsev' - I don't remember which picture)
- Thank you, that error was NOT one of my pictures and captions (cough cough ahem!) but one done by another member. Now I can lord the fact that I spell better than him for years to come! LOL. I fixed it. Thanks. MoviePropMaster2008 17:34, 14 July 2010 (UTC)
Other Mosin Variants?
I was watching the movie again recently and I noticed that there might be several more Mosin variants found within the movie.
The first being the rifle that young Zaitsev uses while hunting wovles with his grandfather. It looks to be a Model 1891 by the simple front post sight but could also be a sporter as there are screws on the side of the gun for a scope, has a curved bolt handle, and having some form of checkering on the grip.
The second is the rifle that Volodya uses. There are numerous glimpses throughout the film that shows what appears to be Finnish style front sights on his rifle. It could be a Finnish rifle that the Soviets captured during the Winter or Continuation war then re-distributed to it's troops. Although the exact model remains unknown. It could be an M27, M28, M28/30, or M39.
If anyone can be able to take some screenshots and possibly confirm any of these that will be great as I have no way of taking screenshots. Thanks.

There was also alot of scenes with PPSh's that were not on this weapons page. There was also a lot of scenes with German infantry that this page did not cover. This needs a lot more work.
We should also be allowed to edit this. Whoever made this did not want to have his, or her, mistakes corrected
- Nope, the page is only protected against massive and random edits by unidentified douchebags, not registered members. So shut up, unidentified douchebag and either get a userID or go away ..... :) MoviePropMaster2008
- - I have to call that out - I do not believe this is a case of disallowing corrections, or inherently shutting out anonymous users. Whoever locked it out to editing only by registered users (And it could only have been an Admin) probably did so to prevent rouge anonymous users from vandalizing it, removing content, or otherwise making 'bad' edits - Usually such lock-outs are done after the fact, in response to such a user causing such a problem. Though I can't positively confirm that is the case in regard to this particular page, we've had that problem before numerous times with several other pages, and they are so restricted for that reason.
Of course, that doesn't mean the restriction can't be lifted, but I doubt it will. Still, you've made a note and so perhaps other users will add to and modify the page accordingly. I certainly would if I had the DVD. If you yourself really want to change it, might I suggest registering a user account? I should also note that we don't need every single possible screenshot of a particular gun in a film. As long as we have at least one decent picture of the gun, that's pretty much enough. StanTheMan 19:05, 23 October 2010 (UTC)- Thanks Stan the Man. :) Two or more MODS have worked on this page that I know of. If someone catches something that the mods have missed, then they should update it. I inherently don't trust anonymous IP addresses with no userID because so many of their edits are either poorly thought out or just plain wrong. No one protects pages just to keep members from making corrections, but you are right in that many pages are protected from anonymous edits because of a wave of either vandalism or just stupid edits by anonymous users. You got it right and the anonymous user who complained needs to man up and get a UserID so he is accountable for his edits (praise if he's right, admonitions if he's wrong).... :) MoviePropMaster2008
