Memorial Day is a 2011 US Drama. On Memorial Day, 1993, 13-year old Kyle Vogel (Jackson Bond) discovers the World War II footlocker of his grandfather Bud (James Cromwell), a veteran of the 82nd Airborne Division, he convinces the reluctant Bud to open up about his war experiences. A decade later, Kyle is a SSG in the 34th Infantry Division serving in Iraq. Wounded by an IED, he starts reflecting on the stories of his grandfather and his own combat experiences.

One of the souvenirs in Bud Vogel's footlocker is captured Walther P38. His grandson Kyle (Jackson Bond) calls it a Luger, before Bud corrects him.

MP40
Several German soldiers carry the MP40.
Rifles
M4A1 Carbine
SSG. Derek Vogel (Johnathan Bennett) and most of his squad carry the M4A1 Carbine during their tour of duty in Iraq, fitted with M68 Aimpoint scopes, AN/PEQ-IV IR Designators and RAS handguards. Several of the squad carries the M4A1 with the M203 Grenade Launcher attachment.
M1 Garand

M1 Carbine
At least one US GI carries a full-length M1 Carbine with an anachronistic bayonet lug.

Several soldiers in Lieutenant Vogel's platoon carry the M1A1 Carbine, once again fitted with a bayonet lug.
