Red Dawn is the 2012 remake of the 1984 Charlie Sheen/Patrick Swayze film of the same name. The remake stars Chris Hemsworth (as Jed Eckert) and Jeffrey Dean Morgan (as Lt Col. Andrew Tanner) and involves an invasion of the continental United States by a powerful, Communist-backed enemy force. Rifles
AKM (Modified to resemble AK-103)
The standard assault rifle of the Korean Peoples Army (KPA) in the film appears to be the AKM, visually modified with the addition of plastic furniture and AK-74-style muzzle brakes to resemble the AK-103. Russian soldiers are also equipped with similar AKMs, but with additional full-length railed handguards.
AKMSU
The AKMSU carbine is used by KPA soldiers, modified with what appears to be a KCI quad rail system. Jed Eckert (Chris Hemsworth) also is shown using an AKMSU carbine in publicity stills.
Remington 700
A Remington 700 is used by both Matt Eckert (Josh Peck) and Jed Eckert (Chris Hemsworth).
Machine Guns
Norinco Type 67
What appears to be a Norinco Type 67 machine gun is mounted on a KPA armored personnel carrier.

The Browning M2HB heavy machine gun is seen mounted on KPA Humvees and tanks.
