Law & Order premiered on Tuesday, September 13th, 1990, with the first episode "Prescription for Death," but this was not the first episode produced. The original pilot "Everybody's Favorite Bagman," would eventually air as the sixth episode of the first season. This episode was produced two years earlier and had Roy Thinnes as District Attorney Alfred Wentworth rather than Steven Hill as DA Adam Schiff since Thinnes was not able to reprise his role when the series went into production.

In a continuity break, a M1911A1 on the counter turns into a Beretta 92F in "Poison Ivy" (S01E08). (It's likely a 92F rather than a 92FS because the episode was filmed in 1990.)
