ArmA III is an upcoming military-simulation video game developed and published by Bohemia Interactive Studio (BIS) exclusively for the PC. It is the third installment of the ArmA series, officially announced on May 19, 2011, and is built around the new Real Virtuality 4 engine owned by BIS. The game is estimated to be released between Q4 2012 or early 2013.
The storyline is set in mid-2030s during an international conflict between the NATO and the Iranian Armed Forces in the Aegean Sea. The main protagonist is Captain Scott Miller, a former United Kingdom Special Forces (UKSF) operator who becomes stranded on a fictional Mediterranean island called "Limnos" (derived from the Greek island Lemnos), and must fight his way out by building an effective resistance force in the process and cooperate with the local population.
Traditionally with the ArmA series, the player will also be able to play with three more characters: Lieutenant Jeff Larkin, an helicopter pilot; Sergeant Rick Hutchinson, a (possibly) tank commander; and Corporal Ben Kerry, a light infantry soldier - all are serving in different units of the United States Army 7th Infantry Division (7th US Army Europe).
The following weapons are currently seen in early release footage of the upcoming video game ArmA III:
Submachine Guns
CZ SCORPION EVO 3 A1
The CZ SCORPION EVO 3 A1 is used by NATO combat divers.
Shotguns
Benelli M4 Super 90
The Benelli M4 Super 90 appears as the "M4 SASS".
Kel-Tec KSG
The Kel-Tec KSG is a confirmed weapon to be featured in the game, and can be fitted with various accessories.
Assault Rifles
FN F2000 Tactical
A fictional variant of the FN F2000 Tactical is used by NATO soldiers and appears as the "Mk 20". While it features a tan body scheme and Monolith Arms rail system, It can be customized with a variety of attachments. A unique grenade launcher available only for the weapon and called the "Mk 20GL", is presumably based on the FN GL-1.
IMI Tavor TAR-21
The Tavor TAR-21 appears to be the standard issue rifle of the Iranian soldiers after presumably obtaining it from the Israelis after conquering Israel. It can be customized with a variety of attachments as can be seen below.
Kel-Tec RFB Carbine
The Kel-Tec RFB Carbine is used by NATO combat divers in-game and appears to be modified into a fictional underwater weapon, but remains visually identical.
"MX 6.5mm"
U.S. Army soldiers use a fictional assault rifle that has design elements from the Remington ACR and Robinson Armament XCR.
Sniper Rifles
Gepard GM6 Lynx
The GM6 Lynx anti-material rifle is shown during the Arma 3 GamesCom presentation.
Mark 14 Mod 0 Enhanced Battle Rifle
The Mk 14 Mod 0 EBR is seen used by NATO soldiers.
Machine Guns
Knight's Armament Company Light Machine Gun
A render of the KAC LMG is seen in ArmA III's promotional materials, fitted with a Magpul UBR stock.
Launchers
Heckler & Koch XM25
The H&K XM25 is a confirmed weapon to be featured in the game.
Metal Storm 3GL
Unknown Rocket Launcher
An unnamed rocket launcher can be seen held by NATO soldiers.
Mounted Weapons
Browning M2 Heavy Barrel
The Browning M2HB is seen mounted on the Unmanned Ground Vehicle (UGV) used by the NATO faction in-game, alongside a possibly unknown model of a grenade launcher. The M2HB is also mounted on the "Panther" Armored Personnel Carrier (derived from the Namer APC), as well as the armed variant of the "Hunter" light armored vehicle (derived from the Oshkosh M-ATV), both used by the Iranian Armed Forces faction.
Dillon Aero M134 Minigun
A possibly DE M134 Minigun is seen mounted on the "AH-9" attack helicopter (derived from the AH-6 Little Bird) used by the NATO faction in-game.
General Dynamics GAU-19/A
The GD GAU-19/A is seen mounted on the "Mi-48 Kajman" attack helicopter (derived from the Mi-28 "Havoc") used by the Iranian Armed Forces faction in-game. It is unclear why the GAU-19/A is featured as the main armament of the Mi-48 instead of the Shipunov 2A42, although this reason could be for ArmA III's futuristic background.
General Dynamics GAU-22/A
The GD GAU-22/A is most likely the main armament of the F-35B Lightning II used by the NATO faction in-game.
General Dynamics XM301
The GD XM301 is seen mounted on RAH-66 Comanche attack helicopter used by the NATO faction in-game.
XM312
The XM312, appears as the "M312" in-game, is seen mounted on a patrol boat used by the NATO faction.
Other Weapons
Barrett M99
What appears to be a Barrett M99 is seen on a poster advertising the game and appears to be missing its bipod. It is unknown if the weapon is will be featured in the game.
